The Story So Far In Pictures - Our Professionals
The Choir was formed in March 1978 when a group of some twenty five police officers and one civilian police employee met at Kent Police Headquarters for an inaugural meeting with the late Gerry Hughes, then a serving officer. Following this meeting the Kent Police Male Voice Choir was formed under the baton of it's founder Chief Superintendent Gerry Hughes.
Following it's formation, the choir went from strength to strength being blessed with professional Musical Directors and Accompanists who throughout the years have shaped the choir to what it is today. The following are pictures of those professionals.

During the early months of the choir's life the choir did not have a professional accompanist. However, we quickly identified Jack Goodsall, then a Superintendent, who not only had a rich tenor voice, but could also 'tickle the ivories' to a reasonable standard. He was therefore seconded as our pianist until 1980 when Heather joined our happy throng.
It is worthy of note that during their lifetimes with the choir two of our accompanists married. Heather Baker (then MacPherson) married in 1981 to one of our choir members, David Baker who sang in the Baritone section. Our present accompanist, Karen Barton-Holman likewise married in 2017 to Luke Holman. Perhaps it's the songs we sing so beautifully that give an air of 'Love is all Around' as the song goes.
