Kent Police Male Voice Choir
CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN GEORGE ROGERS
2020 started off with so much in the way of promise for the choir, a recording, a full programme of concerts throughout the year and a trip to teach the Welsh how to do proper singing! Of course none of this came to pass yet the disappointment seems wholly insignificant when compared to the reality of how the Coronavirus has touched so many in our community and closer to home. The virus will of course pass in due course yet none of us shall forget its impact one way or another.
Notwithstanding the dampening effect on choir life we have managed to keep a forward momentum going for the benefit (and amusement) of our members and loyal followers; including our WhatsApp group full of tongue in cheek schoolboy humour, Martin’s on line lessons on how to sing properly (I hope at least some of you learnt a thing or two), our social singing classes which were anything but choral finesse yet gave us a chance to clear the vocal chords and look who had grown the best beard or longest hair, and of course the unexpected eviction from our old practice room to a new location not far away. Throughout the year your committee has slaved away preparing for the moment we are permitted to recommence singing in number - we’ve become experts at risk assessments, Covid security and action sheets - we are ready - once conditions are right.
We very much hope that 2021 will see the choir resume from where it left off with a full programme of concerts, the final recording of our new cd and that trip to Wales.
On behalf of the committee and me personally I thank each and every one of you for staying with us, and to all of our loyal supporters - thank you for your patience.
I wish you all as merry a Christmas as circumstances allow and a very healthy and happy New Year,
Stay safe everyone,
With warmest greetings to your all,
